
Bistro du Midi is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive culinary expertise, strong leadership abilities, and experience in fine dining, catering, and food service management. As a key member of our kitchen management team, the Sous Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensure food quality and safety standards, and support the development of innovative menus. Responsibilities
- Assist the Chef de Cuisine in overseeing all kitchen operations, including food preparation, presentation, and service
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation
- Lead food production efforts for various service styles such as fine dining, banquets, and catering events
- Manage inventory control, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste to optimize kitchen efficiency
- Participate in menu planning and recipe development to enhance culinary offerings
- Oversee shift management to ensure smooth operation during service hours
- Coordinate with the dietary department to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions
- Maintain excellent communication with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Uphold hospitality standards by fostering a positive team environment focused on quality and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fine dining or restaurant management roles with a strong culinary background
- Supervising experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Extensive knowledge of food production, food safety practices, and inventory management
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse culinary team
- Experience with menu planning and shift management preferred
- Strong understanding of food handling, kitchen operations, and hospitality industry standards
- Culinary certification or relevant training is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure in a high-volume setting
