We’re looking for cooks with a passion for hospitality and service to join our vibrant all day cafe and ice cream shop at One Kendall Square in Cambridge. We have morning and evening shift availability.
This position has both an hourly wage and participates in a tip pool with tips averaging between $5 and $8 per hour.
About Us
We are hospitality first. Everything at Third Time Together starts and ends with the guest experience and how we can make that the best possible experience out there.
We were recently awarded Best of Boston for the second year in a row and just opened our first ever permanent location at One Kendall Square this spring. Our location is right next to the Landmark Kendall Square Cinema (in the same complex as Mamaleh’s, State Park, and Area Four).
Who We Are Looking For
The most important thing is who you are as a person and what sort of things you are about.
We are “looking for the kind of person who runs after a stranger on the street to return a dropped scarf, who stops by with a plate of cookies to welcome a new family to the neighborhood, or who offers to help carry a stranger’s heavy stroller up the subway stairs. The kind of truly hospitable person, in other words, who wants to do good things, not for financial gain or some sort of karmic bump, but because the idea of bestowing graciousness upon others makes their own day better.”
This quality is what we do at Third Time Together. For the right candidate, everything else can be taught!
Job Duties
In this position, you will prepare and serve our versions of Jewish and Eastern Mediterranean cuisine (think the intersection of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa). You’ll be responsible for working the line during service, maintaining prep standards, and ensuring consistent quality across all dishes.
This is also a genuinely open kitchen and our cooks are all happy to help guests out with ordering or tasting ice cream. We also help out the rest of the team by running food or bussing tables when the rest of the team is busy. Everyone here is part of the same team and makes it a point to help make the rest of the team’s duties go smoother!
Job Requirements
This job requires a desire to serve others and create positive experiences. You should be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and providing warm hospitality. You need strong communication skills and comfort interacting with guests and collaborating with both kitchen and front-of-house teams. You will be responsible for prioritizing clean, safe, and sanitary food service. You will need to be able to multi-task and have strong attention to detail. You will need to be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Helpful Skills
Experience in a professional kitchen is required. Fine dining or other high-end experience is preferred but not required! As with all things here, we will always train the right person!
Customer service experience is helpful, as is a natural tendency to care for others.
Interest in or knowledge of Jewish, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, or Eastern Mediterranean cuisines and culture will be useful as well.
What We Offer
We offer hourly wage plus full participation in the tip pool. We also offer opportunities to participate in service improvements and contribute ideas that enhance the guest experience. You’ll work in a fast-paced but supportive environment where your hospitality and creativity will be valued and encouraged.
We provide free staff meals and regular treats in our creative and joyful new space.
We also have potential significant growth opportunities as we plan future expansions.
So You Made It This Far
Okay, so you’ve read all the things. You’re saying to yourself, “I’m passionate about hospitality; love food, coffee, and ice cream; and want to be part of a fun and growing team!”
Great! We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out to the email provided below with a brief cover letter (can be in email form) and a one to two page resume.
