La Motta’s to Open in the South End

The Aquitaine Group

The Aquitaine Group adds to their restaurant portfolio and brings Italian-American eats to the South End with the opening of La Motta’s Italian Specialties at the end of this summer. The Bronx-style restaurant will settle into the spot left by Union Bar and Grille and serve up dinner seven nights a week. Chef Justin Winters, of Cinquecento, will head up the kitchen and churn out classics that include house-pickled giardinara, mozzarella sticks, lasagna and, of course, thin-crust pizzas. The beverage list will focus on Italian-American vintages, available by the glass, carafe or bottle, four on-draft brews and traditional cocktails. La Motta’s (a family name from founder Seth Woods) will pay homage to the neighborhood eateries of the mid-20th century with the deliciously-executed dishes and the warm interior (reclaimed wood panels, cozy booths and a tin ceiling.) The space will feature a main dining room, a private dining room and an outdoor patio, but guests can also opt for take-out or catering. Keep an eye out for opening updates to welcome La Motta’s to the neighborhood.
