MonteVerdi Coming This Spring

Royal Sonesta Cambridge

Spring can’t come soon enough now that Seth Greenberg’s newest venture, MonteVerdi at The Royal Sonesta, is set to open in May. The creative mind behind some of the city’s most iconic restaurants (Mistral, Mooo…., Serafina) is putting the finishing touches on the space, which is perched on the edge of the Charles River in Cambridge – its fabulous views of the skyline are going to be the highlight of the season.

The space is artfully designed by Petra Hausberger of Somerton Park Interiors, who has collaborated with Greenberg on several other projects. The room is filled with walnut-fluted walls, with olive and ochre furniture, terrazzo porcelain flooring, and luxe velvet seating, which gives it a rich, calm and sophisticated vibe. There’s seating for 220 people between the main dining room, private dining space, 20 bar seats and extra lounge seating, as well as the 86 outdoor seats that make up one of the largest patios on the river.

Chef Christian Ellis (The Cottage Wellesley, Ashmont Grill, Centre Street Sanctuary, Rendezvous) is overseeing the elevated, Italian-inspired menu, which includes flatbread pizzas, fresh pastas, crisp salads and local catches, plus you’ll be able to order a chicken dish made famous by Boston chef Gordon Hamersley and mix and match from an al fresco raw bar. There will also be some cutting-edge cocktails to sip as you take in the water views, and a curated selection of wines by the bottle and glass.

MonteVerdi, which is named for Greenberg’s mother, will be open for dinner seven days a week, plus lunch on weekdays and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Follow the hotel on IG for updates on opening day and sneak peeks at the space, and get your patio outfits ready to make the big scene.
