Catalyst – Baker & Prep Cook

The baker & prep cook at Catalyst Restaurant would both assist the pastry chef along with prep for the kitchen. This position reports directly to the Pastry Chef and Executive Chef and collaborates with all departments and team members as needed. This is a hands-on position and must be able to work independently, as well as with a team.

This position helps manage the production and execution of the pastries and desserts for the restaurant and events department.

This position must demonstrate creativity and a passion for food and beverage. In addition, he/she must uphold all company policies and standards, including safety and sanitation.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Experience in a professional kitchen with some time in a pastry department is preferred.
  • Ability to handle high volume production
  • Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations

  • Understands excellent service and the culture of hospitality

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and bake pastries according to established recipes and standards
  • Measure, scale, and portion ingredients accurately
  • Follow prep lists and production schedules
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work area
  • Label, store, rotate, and handle products properly
  • Track production quantities, yields, and waste accurately
  • Communicate clearly about inventory, shortages, or quality issues
  • Support finishing and assembly as needed
  • Ensure all equipment and overall environment are kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and following restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs
