Drink all the ‘Ritas

This year the stars have aligned — on Tuesday, February 22nd you can pay tribute to Taco Tuesday and National Margarita Day at the same time! However you want to observe the holiday (presumably with some combination of tequila and citrus), your cups can floweth over with any number of tasty possibilities. Raise a glass (or a pitcher) at any of the restaurants below, all of which will be offering up their own inventive takes on the iconic concoction, all delicious in their own unique ways.

BARTACO – LIME IN THE COCONUT MARGARITA

bartaco in the Seaport will be kicking off their Margarita March a bit early this year on Tuesday, February 22nd which, as you now know, is National Margarita Day. They’ll be featuring a new cocktail each week starting with this Lime in the Coconut number, followed by Hibiscus Mezcalita and Mango Chamoy Margarita. Available for dine-in so make a beeline for the Seaport.

 

BODEGA CANAL — MIAMI VICE

It’s never too early to think about margaritas at Bodega Canal, the vibrant, low-key taqueria right near North Station. They are known for their Mexican street food-style snacks and house-made craft cocktails like the Miami Vice, made with Bodega Canal’s strawberry and coconut margs (mixed together!) with a toasted coconut rim. Grab a marg (or a few) at one of their three bars and have your fill of empanadas, tacos and nachos.

 

BURRO BAR — DE LA CASA MARGARITA

With options like the Spicy El Diablo, Hibiscus and Mezcarita — all your National Margarita Day dreams will be fulfilled at Burro Bar South End or Burro Bar Brookline. Or get some friends together and go in for a pitcher of liquid happiness and create your own Thirsty Tuesday (it’s a thing). Even in the dead of winter, you can get a taste of summer sunshine and transport your taste buds to Oaxaca.

 

CASA VERDE — THE BEST MARGARITA

Jamaica Plain’s neighborhood taco and tequila bar, Casa Verde, is known for their bar program — the perfect place to spend a day celebrating tequila. This creative bunch are always crafting new flavors like spiced pear, passionfruit and strawberry milkshake margs alongside the classics. This joint is first come first serve, so don’t waste any time, head over to this JP spot first thing for a marg in one hand and a torta in the other.

 

CITRUS & SALT — PASSIONFRUIT MARGARITA

Back Bay’s gloriously Instagrammable food and drink destination, Citrus & Salt, know their margs. If you’re looking for some bling and bevvie trends, make sure to stop in this National Margarita Day and sample their flavored margs (in options like Blood Orange, Coconut and Prickly Pear) or get their OG marg on the rocks or frozen. Keep an eye on their Insta for any speciality drinks in celebration of this tasty holiday.

 

GREAT ROAD KITCHEN — GINGER MARGARITA

Head to Great Road Kitchen, Littleton’s go-to for craveable American fare and craft cocktails, this National Margarita Day. You can always count on chef Chris Frothingham‘s creative renditions of classic dishes, from crispy chili glazed pork ribs and a number of burger options to pair with their classic Ginger Margarita, made with Lunazul reposado, bauchant and ginger lime.

 

GUY FIERI’S TEQUILA COCINA — CARAMELIZED PINEAPPLE MARGARITA

Make your Tuesday all about Flavortown and Margaritas at Guy Fieri’s Tequila Cocina at 110 Causeway. Enjoy a Wagyu taco, trash can nachos, and crispy pork belly while you sip this refreshing margarita pitcher. Get this one filled with Patrón Añejo, Cointreau, fresh lime, & caramelized pineapple — it’s almost too good to share.

 

GUSTAZO CUBAN KITCHEN — PASSIONFRUIT MARGARITA

Get a little taste of Havana at Gustazo Cuban Cuisine in Cambridge and Waltham. Pair bonafide eats like the house tortilla, vaca frita tacos, chicharrones and, of course, a Cubano sandwich with their Passionfruit Margarita, or add a little smoke to your holiday with their Spice & Smoke, made with Ancho Reyes, grapefruit and jalapeño shrub.

 

LOCO TAQUERIA & OYSTER BAR — GRIP IT N’ RIP IT

Pair your ‘Rita Day with some philanthropy at Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar. Order the Grip It n’ Rip It, their February charity cocktail, made with Altos Tequila, lime, aperol, honey passionfruit syrup. $1 from every marg sold will go to Boston Youth Lacrosse to help fund trips to the Limerick Youth Lacrosse Festival. So, the more you drink the better it is for the community (in a way).

 

LONE STAR TACO — CADILLAC MARGARITA

Everyday is margarita day at Lone Star Taco Bar. Say ¡Salud! to the day at either their Cambridge or Allston location with a grilled avo or beef birria taco in one hand and the Cadillac Margarita in the other. This tasty sip is made with Reposado tequila, Bauchant orange liqueur, fresh lime and a salt rim (when only the best will do).

 

NOIR — THE BATTLE OF PUEBLA

Noir at The Charles Hotel has all the classics if you’re feeling traditional, but they also like to put their spin on the standard drinks like this cocktail, The Battle of Puebla. Inspired by the Mexican victory over the French in 1862 this cocktail is made with made with mezcal, quince, Piment d’Espelette, lime juice and parsley. Celebrate this festive day with shareable plates and a sip of history.

 

PAINTED BURRO — HIBISCUS MARGARITA

Cheers to margs at any of the three Painted Burro locations’ happy hours this Tuesday! Stop into the Somerville (5:00-6:00pm), Bedford (4:00-6:00pm), or Waltham (2:00-5:00pm) for half-priced appetizers, and $5 tacos available at the bar. Make your day a whole lot sweeter (or you can add extra rock salt to make it a little saltier) with one of these tasty and colorful margs.

 

PARA MARIA — PATRON CLASSIC MARGARITA

If you haven’t had the chance to check out Para Maria, the new pop-up-in-residence at the Envoy Hotel, make it your priority this National Margarita Day. Chef Tatiana Pairot Rosana and team have created a dynamic, Latin-inspired menu with a magnificently wide array of cocktails and mocktails like this classic Patrón Margarita. Head to Seaport for a an afternoon or evening full of craft cocktails, Latin flavors and good times.

 

SOBRE MESA KITCHEN & BAR – SPICY RITA

Sobre Mesa, the new restaurant from chef-owner Jordan Mackey, brings mouth watering Mexican cuisine to the picturesque central historic district of Sudbury. For National Margarita Day they are juicing limes left, right and center so you can have as many of these Spicy ‘Ritas as you need. Made with serrano-infused tequila shaken with strawberry & aleppo syrup, fresh lime, and cucumber bitters — this drink is not your average spicy.
