Make Way for Moona

Moona - Facebook

Mezza and more land in Inman Square when Moona officially opens its doors on Monday, October 24th. Restaurateurs Mohamad El Zein (of Masa Restaurant Group) and Radouan Ouassaidi (of South End Pita) have joined forces for the new Eastern Mediterranean spot, named for the Arabic slang for “storing” or “pantry.” The kitchen, headed by executive chef Mark McMann (of Shepard and Ashmont Grill), will focus on cold and warm mezza, or small plates. Guests to the rustic 30-seat space – featuring mosaic tiling, exposed brick and copper accents – can sit down to seasonal dishes seven nights a week. Showcasing housemade pantry ingredients, the menu ranges from dips, pickles and olives to scallops and slow-cooked lamb shank. Moona-made spice blends, jams, pickles and preservers will also be available for purchase. Dinner hours are 5:00-10:00pm (until 11:00pm on Friday and Saturday) and the bar stays open for an hour afterwards with beer and wine. Moona is taking reservations as part of their soft opening—call 617.945.7448 for more information or see their website for pre-opening details.
