Doretta Taverna and Raw Bar

Michael Schlow’s Doretta Taverna and Raw Bar is expected to be up and running before the end of September, so say the folks (and they should know) at parent company Good Essen Restaurant Group. Before you’ve even dug your sweaters out of storage, you can be enjoying the simple yet bold flavors (as well as the rumored health benefits) that are the hallmark of Greek cuisine. Schlow, the James Beard Award-winning chef behind Tico and Alta Strada (as well as gone-but-not-forgotten Radius, Via Matta, Great Bay and Café Louis), has taken his culinary inspiration from his wife’s family, which hails from Sparta. The menu will feature delicious and deceptively simple, locally-sourced, seasonal dishes accented with “good olive oil, a little lemon, and lots of fresh herbs,” says Schlow. Designed by Andrea Morton of AMorton Design and Michael Nedeau of Party By Design, the 150-seat dining room, features a center bar, a show kitchen, French doors that open onto a spacious patio and a 60-foot-long wall hand-painted by Adrienne Schlow, artist and wife of Chef Schlow. General Manager Megan Cormier, formerly of Cru on Nantucket, will be overseeing the international wine program – with plenty of by-the-glass options – as well as nightly operations. Keep an eye out for opening details.
