The official James Beard Award Nominees have been announced and a handful of Boston stars are studding the list. In the sweets department, chef Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery is in the running for Outstanding Baker and chef Maura Kilpatrick of Oleana represents MA in the Outstanding Pastry Chef category. Two Boston-area chefs have their toques in the ring for Best Chef Northeast: chef Karen Akunowicz of Myers + Chang (and recent Top Chef fame) and chef Susan Regis of Shepard. The Awards will take place Monday, May 2nd in Chicago—for now, a hearty congratulations to all the nominees!
