The biggest restaurant news of the new year: the closing of South End’s Rocca. After wrapping up New Year’s Eve service, the restaurant, from veterans Michela Larson and Gary Sullivan, quietly closed its doors for good. It would seem that the last couple of lean years for the industry and the economy at large were just too much – even the acquisition of Top Chef’s Tiffani Faison, a revamped menu and three stars from the Globe weren’t enough to right the ship.
