Get ready to rock the SOWA Power Station with the Lovin’ Spoonfuls team and a who’s who of Boston’s best chefs at their annual Ultimate Tailgate Party on Sunday, November 5th. The party is back and bigger than ever this year with four-time James Beard Award-winning TV personality (and Spoonfuls’ culinary board member) chef Andrew Zimmern as the emcee, and there’ll be tons of tastes from chefs, drinks experts and restaurateurs like David Bazirgan (UNI), Joanne Chang and Benjamin Hoxsie (Myers + Chang, Flour), Karen Akunowicz & Molly Dwyer (Bar Volpe, Fox & The Knife), Tiffani Faison (Sweet Cheeks Q, Tenderoni’s), Will Gilson (Puritan & Co., The Lexington), Marissa Hart (Capo, Lincoln, Hunter’s), Trevor Kunk (Shy Bird), Stephen Marcaurelle & Zach Watkins (Nautilus Pier 4), Cassie Piuma (Sarma), David Punch (Sycamore), Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli (Alcove), Trevor & Kate Smith (Thistle & Leek), and loads more (check out the full lineup here). There’ll even be a special exclusive lounge experience with the folks from the soon-to-be-reborn Eastern Standard.
Since their launch in 2010, Lovin’ Spoonfuls has been rescuing healthy, perishable food — fruits and vegetables, dairy and proteins — from grocery stores, produce wholesalers, farms and farmers markets that is good but unsalable (often things are nearing the sell-by date, slightly bruised or just excess) and redistributing it to communities facing food insecurity via nonprofit partners such as food banks and pantries. Their food they find and redistribute feeds more than 42,000 families through more than 200 nonprofits. Tickets for the tailgate go toward supporting their mission, and you can grab yours here starting on Tuesday, September 5th for $150 for general admission and $300 for VIP. The party runs from 6:00 to 9:00pm, with an early hour for VIP, and if you have any Qs they’re probably covered here.
