If it’s comfort food you crave, head to Hunter’s Kitchen & Bar for a feast at 110 Dorchester St. The great minds behind Capo, Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar, Fat Baby, and Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant have brought all the flavors of the South to Southie.
Housed in the space that was formerly The Junction, Hunter’s features a old hunter’s lodge-style vibe with stone fireplaces, stuffed hunting trophies and mounted fish, and tons of details you might find at grandpa’s getaway cabin. There’s plenty of space to get cozy at one of the rustic style tables that ring the dining room with a large wrap-around bar in the middle, and there is a patio out front for warmer weather.
The menu is packed with all the Southern staples like fried chicken, grits, gumbo and more. You can pop by for lunch, brunch or dinner and share a few snacks and sandwiches, or share some family-style platters and some sides (aka “fixins”), or choose supper offerings like chicken and waffles and BBQ ribs. There is also plenty of bourbon and whiskey to wash it all down, including a substantial lineup of clever cocktails, plus an array of craft brews and ciders and a curated list of white, red, rosé and sparkling wines by the glass.
