1928 is looking for a talented, driven Chef to join our team at our amazing waterfront location at Rowes Wharf.

This is an opportunity for a chef who wants more than simply running a kitchen. We are looking for someone who wants to help shape the culinary identity of 1928 Rowes Wharf, work directly with ownership, and have a genuine voice in the direction of the food program.

The Chef will have shared creative control of the menu with ownership, including developing new dishes, seasonal offerings, specials, and the overall culinary direction.
You won’t simply be handed a menu and asked to execute it your experience, creativity, and point of view will have a seat at the table.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, hire, train, and develop the culinary team while creating a positive kitchen culture
• Collaborate with ownership and operations on menu development and culinary direction
• Maintain high standards for food quality, consistency, presentation, and execution
• Oversee ordering, inventory, prep, and vendor relationships
• Manage and understand COGS and food-cost performance
• Manage kitchen labor and have a strong understanding of payroll and labor costs
• Create systems and standards that allow the kitchen and team to consistently succeed
• Work closely with the front-of-house and management teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience

We’re Looking For

• Previous Chef, Sous Chef, or significant kitchen leadership experience
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Creativity and confidence in menu development
• A solid understanding of COGS, food cost, payroll, and labor management
• Ability to lead calmly and effectively in a busy environment
• Team-first mentality and a passion for developing people
• Someone who wants to have a genuine voice in the restaurant’s future
