Turkish Carpet Salon

Ana Sortun has been bringing the flavors of the Middle East to the people of Cambridge since Oleana opened in 2001, and on Sunday, January 20th, she and her team take it a step further, transporting you to a Turkish market with a little help from longtime friend and carpet expert Hamza Yildiz.

Meet Yildiz at the handmade carpet pop-up, where he’ll share behind-the-scenes knowledge of how carpets are crafted. He’s the owner of Noah’s Ark, a shop in Istanbul that sources artisan carpets from small villages throughout Turkey, and he’ll teach you how to read symbols as well as the key to differentiating between certain wools and dyes. You’ll be able to buy any carpet available at the pop-up (both credit cards and checks are accepted), and light bites and Turkish tea will be served, open-house style, from 11:00am through 3:00pm. Send an email to Jenna to snag a ticket before it’s too late — RSVP by January 15th.
