If you love esoteric old world wines you won’t want to miss this week’s wine dinner on Tuesday, August 22nd at Forage which shines the spotlight on Hungary. More than 100 years ago the country was one of the most important wine producers in Europe, but suffered greatly due to world wars, communism, and aggressive phylloxera. Hungary is back and better than ever these days, however, boasting 22 distinct wine regions and producing hundreds of varietals. Wine guru Stan Hilbert has a handful of unique bottles for you to try this week, which are perfectly paired with chef Eric Cooper’s late summer fare with a decidedly Hungarian flare.

Grab a reservation here to dine in for $105 per person to taste pairings like Leek “Pappardelle” with Spicebush Berries and Mushrooms paired with 2020 Kekfrankos, Kristinus, Balaton; and Chicken Heart Red Eye Gravy with Roasted Peppers & Egg Noodles, with Brown Butter Bread Crumb and Oregano paired with 2019 TiTi, Gal Tibor, Egern (take a peek at the full menu below). If you prefer your own couch for wine tasting, you can also take your dinner to go for two people, which costs $160 and includes all your food and wines (order here).
