Amba Coming to East Cambridge

Amba

East Cambridge is going to be a lot more exciting starting this summer when Will Gilson’s next concept, Amba, opens up in the brand-spankin’ new First Street Market at 55 First Street. The acclaimed chef behind Puritan & Co., Puritan Oyster Bar, The Lexington, Gepetto and Café Beatrice is going for a Mediterranean vibe for the newest eatery in the Cambridge Street Hospitality Group empire, which will anchor the multi-purpose space that’s recently been revitalized from the old V.F.W. as part of the 40 Thorndike project.

Named after a popular Middle Eastern condiment, Amba will be serving up all sorts of delicious eats, but the crown jewel will undoubtedly be their spiced rotisserie chickens, which will come with an array of sides and sauces for you to pick and choose. The counter-service spot will also serve up some of pastry chef Brian Mercury’s irresistible goodies, which will pair perfectly with a La Colombe coffee drink or a selection of wines, beers and cocktails.

The café is a part of the larger multi-use space of First Street Market, which will house a year-round, weekly indoor farmer’s market, a functional demonstration bar, and enough space for all sorts of city events and private functions like wedding receptions and company holiday parties. You can find out more about all the First Street/40 Thorndike goings-on here, be sure to bookmark Amba’s website for a peek at the menu when it’s ready, and keep an eye on their IG for a look at the café when it opens in June.
