Bee’s Knees Week 2023

Clockwise from the upper left: cocktails from Row 34, Waverly, Foundry on Elm, Urban Hearth & Rail Stop

The bee-loving peeps at Vermont’s Caledonia Spirits, the award-winning distillers behind Barr Hill Gin (and a bunch of boozes made with raw honey), are enlisting the help of their drink-making friends across the country for Bee’s Knees Week.

The annual event, which runs from Friday, September 22nd through Sunday, October 1st, supports some of nature’s hardest workers. Bees are responsible for 1 in every 3 bites of food, but they face multiple threats including pesticides, mites, loss of habitat and Colony Collapse Disorder. The good news is that all you have to do to give the bees some love is to drink a Bee’s Knees cocktail, snap a photo and share it on social with #beeskneesweek and tag @barrhillgin. For each and every pic, Caledonia Spirits will plant 10 square feet of bee habitat.

Lots of local spots will be doing their part and so can you. Scroll through the list of participants online here to plan your outings to venues like Evoo, The Fed at the Langham, Foundry on Elm, Grafton Street, The Hourly, Rail Stop Restaurant & Bar, Row 34 Boston, Cambridge & Burlington, Saloon, Toro and Urban Hearth among lots of others. Be sure to get to Myers + Chang, where they’re offering Bees Please! their yuzu-ginger version of the classic; Waverly Kitchen & Bar in Charlestown, where they’ve added the Lavender Haze, made with Bar Hill Gin, Bar Hill Honey, fresh lemon, lavender & Prosecco, to the menu; or The Salty Pig, where they’ll be serving Mean Old Cat made with Barr Hill Tom Cat Gin, Bar Hill honey infused with vanilla, fresh squeezed OJ and lemon juice.
