20+ Cozy Fall Cocktails

Don’t let this Second Summer weather fool you…it’s definitely fall! The leaves are turning, temps are dipping and seasonal flavors are popping up on drink lists all over town. There’s plenty of pumpkin spice if you partake but there are lots of other harvest season flavors to be had too – apple, pear, honey, cinnamon and more. Peep the round-up below to see how your favorite spots are celebrating the arrival of sweater weather and get yourself into a fall frame of mind with a few tasty sips.

Bambara Kitchen & Bar – The Brookside

Bambara‘s John Erdmann captures the fleeting flavors of summer and adds a dash of autumnal warmth in The Brookside. Made with Bombay Sapphire Gin, blackberry balsamic reduction, lime juice, egg white and angostura bitters, it balances bright berry and citrus with cozier notes from the balsamic and bitters to ease you from one season into the next.

 

The Bancroft – Will-o’-the-Wisp

You can bring those summer campfire vibes right into autumn with the Will-o’-the-Wisp from the bar team at The Bancroft. Made with local aged and blackstrap rums, allspice dram, pumpkin and coconut milk, and topped with a toasted marshmallow, it’s the perfect balance of fall flavors with a bit of summer fun.

 

Bully Boy Distillers – Blackberry Smash

In a nod to the change of seasons, the crew at Bully Boy Distillers, Boston’s premier craft distillery, has launched their Fall Cocktail Menu. Available exclusively at their tasting room & cocktail bar, it’s full of cozy cool weather sips like this lovely Blackberry Smash, made with American Straight Whiskey, House Crème de Mure and sumac.

 

Buttermilk & Bourbon – Frozen Apple Cider

The Frozen Apple Cider at Buttermilk & Bourbon is perfectly suited for late summer/early fall when you’re all hyped up for sweater weather but the temps haven’t quite dropped enough to warrant so much as a scarf. Made with Grey Goose, apple pie spices, cider and St. George pear, it evokes all the fall flavors in a refreshing, frosty pick-me-up.

 

Ciao Roma – PSL Espresso Martini

Pumpkin spice goes from day to night at Ciao Roma with their seasonal sipper, the PSL Espresso Martini. Five Horses Tavern Boston – P.S.L Martini

You can take your love of PSL szn to the next logical, boozy level at Five Horses Tavern in the South End. The Columbus Street hang gives their basic house espresso martini a dash of pumpkin syrup and a cinnamon sugar rim and voila – the P.S.L Martini, a glorious seasonal treat.

 

Five Horses Tavern Somerville – Vanilla Pear Bliss

Vanilla girls and guys, and anyone who loves a fall sipper with a clean, earthy vibe can head to Five Horses Tavern Somerville for a Vanilla Pear Bliss. Made with vanilla vodka, brandy, triple sec, spiced pear liqueur and lemon juice, it’s as if tall boots and a light jacket could jump in a glass.

 

Foundry on Elm – Bananasaurus Rex

They’ve rolled-out a whole line-up of fall cocktails at Somerville’s Foundry on Elm, including the Bananasaurus Rex which includes rye whiskey, banana, toasted vanilla, walnut and orange bitters. Make a beeline for Davis Square to check ’em all out.

 

Ledger – Another Bad Apple

Planning to stroll the streets of Salem this spooky season? Plan a pitstop at Ledger to get your strength up for the night of frights and, of course, to try Another Bad Apple. The naughty-but-nice refresher combines cinnamon & apple infused vodka, star anise demerara syrup, lemon and local Red Jacket apple juice for a perfect treat (no tricks detected).

 

The Merchant – Apple Jack-o-Lantern

If your idea of fall fun is more citified than farm-y, you can skip the trip to the orchard or the pumpkin patch and pop in to The Merchant in Downtown Crossing to try the Apple Jack-o-Lantern. Nautilus Pier 4 – Tipsy Tina

Make your way to the Seaport to try the Tipsy Tina from the talented bar team at Nautilus Pier 4. Made with Altos reposado tequila, fresh lime, Brovo orange curaçao and blackberry sage syrup with a black lava salt rim it’ll warm you up as the temps dip. 

 

NEBO – Mela Speziata

The crew at NEBO know that it’s all about apple picking this time of year. Skip the tree climbing and get right to the good part with a Mela Speziata. Made with fresh apple cider blended with house-made fall spice-infused syrup and Bacardi Spiced Rum, then served frozen with a cinnamon stick garnish, it’s the seasonal slushie of your dreams.

Not content to celebrate chunky sweater season with just one or two sips, the team at Rail Trail Flatbread in Hudson have a whole menu of foliage-friendly cocktails for you to explore as you munch on your fresh-baked pizzas. You can peep the whole line-up here but definitely add the Mulled Wine Sangria to your must-try list. The combination of red wine, apple brandy, cinnamon, ginger liqueur is ideal for fireside sipping.

 

ReelHouse Marina Bay – Mariner’s Mochatini

Set a course for ReelHouse Marina Bay in Quincy to try the Mariner’s Mochatini made with vanilla vodka, Grand Marnier, Irish Cream & Chocolate Syrup and garnished with a candied orange peel and fresh grated chocolate. The Smoke Shop East Boston – Violet’s Dagger

If you’ve been meaning to go check out The Smoke Shop’s newest outpost in Eastie, let the change in season be the reason ’cause they’ve got a slew of new drinks (thanks to their freshly minted full liquor license). Try a Jeffries Pointer, made with blood orange vodka, honey and Ancho Reyes or toast to sweater weather with Violet’s Dagger, a floral twist on a Bee’s Knees made with lavender pea flower infused gin, elderflower and a cava float.

 

State Park – Bonecrusher

Belly up to the bar at State Park for a timeless-yet-also-seasonally-appropriate (or, aptly named at least) sip. Made with Arette Blanco Tequila, habanero pepper shrub and lime, the Bonecrusher combines bright citrus to evoke summery notes and a little bit of heat (and also tequila) to keep you toasty as the temps drop.

If you’re ready to shake off the summer and ease into fall like a cashmere scarf on a windy day, stop in to Troquet on South for either a Spiced Rum Old Fashioned or an Autumn Sangria. The OF is made with Mad River Maple Rum that comes straight from the leaf peeping capital of Vermont, plus allspice, bitters and demerara; and the sangria combines Cabernet, pear, apple brandy, cinnamon and cassis for a warming, comforting autumn classic.
