Josephine, Now Open in Somerville

Somervillians looking for a hearty meal like Nonna used to make can head to the Cambria Hotel ASAP ’cause chef Michael Scelfo (of Alden & Harlow, Waypoint and The Longfellow Bar) has a whole new restaurant to show you. Named for his own beloved Sicilian grandma Josephine, who is also his earliest culinary influence, the spectacular new space promises to give you the full Italian experience, and then some.

Pizza lovers can get excited for bites of Jo’s Classic Deep Dish Pizza made with a butter crust, whole milk mozzarella + Linny Ray’s Sauce; and Rosemary’s Baby pizza made with roasted chicken, potato, fontina + caramelized onion. If you’re not in a pizza mood there will also be some tasty apps and hearty mains like Veal Tonnato (smoked & chilled veal shoulder with arugula and caper vinaigrette); and Warm Focaccia with tomatoes, Crescenza cheese and lemon. There’s even be a big ‘ol burger — dry aged — served on a focaccia roll with overnight onion jam and muenster. You can wash all that down with a classic negroni or martini, of course, or choose something bella from the beer and wine list.

The dining room is decked out with a long, white marble bar with high wood ceilings and Carrara marble, penny tile floors, plus there’s plenty of seating inside and out, including an outdoor fire pit and dedicated bar for warmer nights — yay for patio season! Grab a reservation here or call 617.764.3035, and be sure to check out the website for menu updates and follow them on their socials (FB and IG) to keep up with all the haps.
