Take-Out & Taco Kits from Sobre Mesa

Sobra Mesa Instagram

Sobre Mesa, the new restaurant from chef-owner Jordan Mackey, brings mouth watering Mexican cuisine to the picturesque central historic district of Sudbury. Now open for take-out (with in-person dining on the horizon in the not too distant future), the restaurant is named for sobremesa (“upon the table” en español), the Spanish tradition of relaxing at the table after a hearty meal, sharing stories, laughs and a good time.

Mackey’s menu focuses on shareable plates and slow roasted meats with goodies like lamb shank birria, enchiladas, burritos, seven kinds of salsas and slowly simmered six hour beans. You may need some help to you try it all, but here’s a good place to start: they’ve got an assortment of Taco Kits filled with everything that you need to have a fiesta at home – tortillas, pickles veggies, housemade salsa (you’ve got to try the pumpkin seed salsa), fresh garnishes and protein of your choice (like street cart chicken, wood-grilled shiitake, or pork carnitas) for $17-$26. Don’t forget to add an order of churros or tres leches as well to end your night on a sweet note.

Sobre Mesa is open for take-out from 4:00-11:00pm Wednesdays through Sundays and plans to open their indoor and patio dining soon. Take a peek at the menu and get ready to have a hearty, comforting Mexican meal at home.
