Chef and restaurateur Marissa Iocco, the driving culinary force behind some of Boston’s best Italian restaurants, is leaving the city in favor of some suburban scenery. Leaving a long trail of award-winning eateries in her wake – Galleria Italiana, La Bettola, South End Galleria, Bricco, Mare, Umbria and Trattoria Il Panino – Iocco ups the ante at Needham’s Tuscan influenced Spiga. As executive chef, she’ll be creating a whole host of tantalizing new menu items like Abruzzese fish and shellfish risotto in brodetto; and eggplant with pasta “sails” and fresh mint. Spiga is open daily, serving lunch and dinner so make the drive out to Needham to see Iocco in action – call 781.449.5600 for reservations.
