If you’re the go-to guacamole maker in your group chat, perhaps it’s time to go pro and enter this year’s 9th annual Guac Off at The Painted Burro. The Burro-royale for guac supremacy goes down on Sunday, April 7th, and while many guacamole recipes may enter, there can only be one winner who will take home a $400 gift card and be featured on the PB menu for the ultimate bragging rights. The catch is that you’ll need to get your recipes in by Monday, March 18th to compete, so get your thoughts typed out and send them in here ASAP. The competition will be whittled down to only eight finalists who will move on to the final throw down in April.

Who judges all those guacs, you might ask? Great question — in addition to a star-studded lineup of local judges, anyone in the neighborhood who fancies themselves an amateur avocado supertaster will have a chance to “guac the vote” at a Guac Off judging party from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the OG Somerville location in Davis Square on April 7th. Grab tickets here and you will get to scoop and scrape samples from all the finalists to vote on the People’s Choice guac; the winner will score a $100 gift card. Margaritas are encouraged and avocado apparel will certainly be appreciated, just don’t forget to bring proper ID if you’ll be drinking any adult bevvies.
