The wait is over! Chef Sarah Wade’s newest restaurant, Sloane’s, is officially up-and-running at 197 North Harvard Street in Allston (at the Continuum Building right by Trader Joe’s), serving up a slew of her signature southern-inspired bites.
The freshly-opened spot from the “Chopped” alum and owner of Stillwater (just off the end of the Rose Kennedy Greenway) features a menu of fun comfort food. Look for her signature mac and cheese made with Velveeta and sharp Cabot cheddar and topped with house pulled pot roast and buttered pretzel crumbs, or pop in to try one of her sandwiches including her ode to Carmey Bearzatto, “The Bear,” a warm pot roast sandwich with melted cheese, house giardiniera and sweet peppers on a toasted French roll. You won’t want to miss the Oklahoma Onion Burger which is griddled with Vidalia onion, white American cheese, and topped with yellow mustard and dill pickles on a toasted potato bun.
They’ll also be serving up a long and leisurely brunch on weekends (10:00am to 3:00pm) including plates of Egg in a Hole (griddled thick-cut banana bread with runny eggs, bacon marmalade, sweet roasted onions, hot maple and Little Leaf greens); and Chicken and Mashers (griddled mashers topped with a Southern fried chicken breast, two easy eggs, hot bourbon maple syrup, and fried leeks).
Save some room for a sweet treat afterwords, because pastry chef Kaitlyn Lloyd has a mile-high Funfetti cake that you can’t miss, plus a full ice cream program complete with “hoodsie” style homemade ice creams like watermelon lime, classic vanilla, chocolate chip cookie and strawberry white chocolate.
Mackenzie Dame designed the playful cocktail program, which features sips like “Cool as a Cucumber” with Velo Vodka, which is Boston-based and female- owned spirit, with cucumber water, yuzu liqueur and pink peppercorn, and the “Oklahoma Smoke Show” made with New England’s Whistle Pig Piggyback Rye and Bully Boy Amaro and infused with smoked applewood chips. Plus you can’t miss the “Swim-Up Bar” outdoors, where you can whet your whistle with rum runners and boozy ice cream floats without getting wet.
There’s lots of space for stretching out while you explore the menu, with seating for 80 between the dining room, 20 bar seats and 18-seat outdoor patio.
