Tres Gatos has a new chef running the show — Peter McKenzie brings his passion and expertise (honed at spots like haley.henry, Nathálie and Shepard) to the kitchen at Jamaica Plain’s beloved tapas bar/book and record store. He joins owners David Doyle and Maricely Perez-Alers, who share McKenzie’s fondness for the tapas tradition, have handed over the culinary reins and are thrilled with the results so far. He’s already made some additions to the charcuterie menu (think: chicken morcilla, lamb merguez, rabbit terrine, chicken liver mousse, and house-made chorizo) and he’s gearing up for summer when he hopes to add paella patio nights to the goings-on, and fall when he plans to offer mushroom foraging and cooking classes to the agenda.
