Chicken Costume Contest

Southern Proper Facebook

The folks at Southern Proper sure love their fowl — in fact, there’s a whole section of their menu titled “Chicken, Chicken” with every southern preparation you can think of. It’s fried, smoked, dumpling-ed, put atop waffles and stuffed into sandwiches. And their affinity for the bird ain’t ending anytime soon, especially on Halloween.

Head to Harrison Avenue on Wednesday, October 31st for the first annual Halloween Chicken Costume Contest. Sure, you could buy something online but homemade outfits are way more original (and customizable). However you craft your hen getup, don’t forget your beak, a tail and feathers! The kitchen crew alongside chef Jason Cheek will be prepping eats for the evening — and you can bet poultry will surely be popping up on the menu — and there’ll be drinks, prizes and a dinner for two giveaway for whoever wins best chicken-themed costume. Squawk your way to the South End before things kick off at 7:00pm, and call 857.233.2421 with questions.
