Say Adios to the Choco Taco at Yellowdoor Taqueria

You’ve likely heard: after forty or so years, Klondike has decided to discontinue the beloved Choco Taco ice cream treat. But that doesn’t mean you have to go quietly into that Choco Taco-less good night – the folks at Yellow Door Taqueria are teaming up with award-winning pastry chef Kate Holowchik of Lionheart Confections for a one-day-only send off on Tuesday, August 2nd featuring Katie’s Choco Taco-inspired donut.

Dia de Los Chocos Tacos will be observed at both Yellow Door locations (Lower Mills and South End) starting at 4:00pm and go until supplies run out. Holowchick’s donut is a half moon-shaped vanilla brioche filled with vanilla bean pastry cream, dipped in chocolate-peanut ganache and garnished with a waffle cone tuile – a fitting tribute snack on its own, or as dessert following some of chef Marcela Longas‘ Cali-Mex style fare.

Raise your glass to an absolute ice cream legend with a paloma or two, some sangria, a local craft brew or Mexican import. Donuts are $7 and are first come, first served. Follow Yellow Door on Insta for tribute photos, and let your voice be heard that the Choco Taco may be gone but never forgotten.
