Start any work week off on the right foot with scrumptious ‘za from da LaPosta – for a steal. Head to Newton for Margherita Mondays and get one of chef Mario LaPosta’s authentic, handmade pies (made with a special sourdough crust) for just $10. This isn’t your average pizza bargain either. Each pie is made with dough that is created from a seven-year-old starter using a proprietary whole wheat flour blend from Central Milling in Utah. The dough is fermented for 8 to 12 hours once it’s rolled out and then topped with organic Bianco di Napoli tomatoes from California, naturally lactose-free mozzarella from Caputo Brothers Creamery in Pennsylvania, local basil, and a sprinkle of Parmigiano Reggiano. It set to rise on specially-crafted dough trays made from maple (which helps reduce any moisture in the dough and creates a light, crispy crust) and then baked in da LaPosta’s 900-degree wood-fired oven from Marra Forni. The Monday-only special is only available to dine in (they’re open from 4:00 to 9:00pm), so get your reservations in here or give the restaurant a call at 617.964.2665 to secure a spot.
