Another Big Night

On Thursday, November 21st, Grotto is once again paying tribute to the foodie film cult classic Big Night by recreating the film’s epic, multi-course feast. For the uninitiated, Big Night tells the story of two Italian brothers (played by Tony Shalhoub and Stanley Tucci) who are determined to revive their flailing restaurant with a once-in-a-lifetime dinner for legendary entertainer Louis Prima. You don’t have to know how the movie ends to enjoy chef Scott Herritt’s recreation of the menu (from timpano to whole roasted pig), but it’s worth a gander if you count yourself among the food-obsessed. And it’ll help you decide what to wear; guests are encouraged to don fifties-era evening attire like the dinner guests in the movie. Tickets for the Big Night dinner are $80 each (including house-selected wines) or $60 if you’d like to choose your own pairings. Call 617.227.3434.
