Freepoint on the Horizon

Chef Matthew Gaudet returns to Cambridge with a brand-new venture, Freepoint Kitchen + Cocktails. Formerly of Kendall Square’s now-shuttered West Bridge, Gaudet will showcase his global cuisine at the forthcoming restaurant – located in the lobby of the soon-to-open Freepoint Hotel. Breakfast will see options like shakshuka and a miso green veggie bowl while the evening hours entice guests with bar snacks and dinner plates. Bacon-roasted nuts, pork Cubanos and whiskey-cured salmon are just a few of the anticipated offerings. Gaudet will reunite with West Bridge’s Alex Howell – now Freepoint’s Beverage Consigliere, for a drinks list that spotlights brown liquors. (A dedicated Manhattan menu sports eight variations of the classic sipper.) Visitors can get comfortable at the 13-seat bar, communal hightops or by the fire pits in the lush, glass-enclosed atrium known as the Secret Garden. Both the restaurant and the hotel plan to open April 1st with breakfast from 7:00-11:00am and dinner from 5:00pm-12:00am.
