In the ring for the third round of Sommelier Smackdown, the monthly wine steward showdown from the folks at Gordon’s Fine Wine & Culinary Center, reigning champion Brahm Callahan of Excelsior and challenger Kelly Coggins of Rialto. On Thursday, June 12th at the sound of the bell (7:00pm), Callahan and Coggins will come out pouring their picks to accompany four courses from chefs Louis DiBiccari and Ian Grossman both of Sel de la Terre. Dishes on the proposed menu include duck liver terrine with marinated Bing cherries, rooftop herbs and Sutton Farm honey; bourbon-vanilla poached free range chicken breast with bacon risotto and English peas and smoked chipotle jus; and strawberry-rhubarb Linzer torte with basil ice cream Guests, having forked over $65 apiece, will get to determine the winner.
