The Essential Jacques Pepin Evening

UPDATE: Sadly, Chef Pepin won’t be able to make it to this event due to hip surgery. The rest of the festivies will proceed as planned.

There is nary a cook, professional or amateur, who doesn’t owe at least some soupcon of gratitude to Jacques Pepin. The chef, author, teacher and co-founder of BU’s MET Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy is being honored in proper fashion on Thursday, November 3rd with a night dedicated to his newest book, The Essential Pepin. The evening features dishes plucked right from the pages of Pepin’s new tome as interpreted by Boston chefs – chefs like Jamie Bissonnette (Toro and Coppa), Peter Davis (Henrietta’s Table), Chris Douglass (Ashmont Grill and Tavolo), Jeff Fournier (51 Lincoln), Michael Leviton (Area Four and Lumiere), Barry Maiden (Hungry Mother), Raymond Ost (Sandrine’s Bistro), Jacky Robert (Petit Robert), Jason Santos (Blue Inc), Michael Schlow (Radius, Via Matta, Alta Strada and Tico), Jeremy Sewall (Lineage, Eastern Standard and Island Creek Oyster Bar) and Jasper White (Summer Shack). The event, which starts at 6:00pm, costs $100 per person, a price which includes tastes of all the dishes, wine, beer and a copy of the book and companion DVD series. And of course, the man of the hour himself will be on hand to sign books and, we’re guessing, impart a little knowledge – once a teacher, always a teacher. To register, visit BU’s website.
