Ghost Tequila’s Cocktail Challenge for a Cause

Ghost Tequila Facebook

Ghost Tequila founder and CEO Chris Moran, who lives in Southie, has put together the Ghost Cocktail Challenge to raise much-needed funds for furloughed bartenders and restaurant professionals. More than 100 mixologists from all over the country were asked to concoct a spicy Ghost Tequila cocktail – incorporating ingredients they just happened to have handy at home – and share a video of themselves prepping and talking about their tequila-based beverage. The videos and the recipe are posted online here for viewing and voting-on in a tournament-style bracket. For every vote, Ghost Tequila will donate $1 to the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund (they’re also matching donations up to $10,000 through this GoFundMe campaign and have already managed to raise $13,000 by broadcasting an Instagram Live concert with a local band). Voting is open online now (the first round closes on Monday, April 6th at 12:00pm so get your votes in asap). Competitors will receive swag prizes and cash at each round, totaling more than $2,000 for the champion. Get watching and voting to be part of the spirited competition while raising money for the industry at large.

You can see all the videos online here but be sure to keep an eye out for local talent like… Alyssa Filiatreau from the Playwright in South Boston, Amanda FinocchiaroAshley & Brittany Griffin of Bodega Canal, Ben Spinney of Wink & Nod, Chris Rusk, Christiano Souza of Saltie Girl, Craig Carbonneau of Tavern in the Square and Broadway Restaurant Group and Devon Westcom of Yellow Door Taqueria and Moonshine 152.
