Brian Mercury Pops Up at Puritan

There’s a new king of sweets at Puritan & Company. Chef Brian Mercury has been named the Executive Pastry Chef at the Inman Square farm-to-table eatery. Mercury comes from across the Charles, where he’s been in charge of all things confectionery at Oak + Rowan since it opened three years ago. He’s no stranger to Cambridge, however. Before his stint in Fort Point, he led the pastry program at Harvest and earned himself awards like Food & Wine‘s “People’s Choice Best New Pastry Chef, East Region 2013,” Boston Magazine’s “Boston’s Best Pastry Chef 2014 & 2018,” and Improper Bostonian‘s “Boston’s Best Desserts 2013 & 2017.”

“The first time I tasted one of Brian’s desserts I knew that someday, somehow, I needed to find a way for us to work together. Brian is an artist and one of the most talented yet humble people I have ever met,” said Puritan & Company’s chef-owner Will Gilson. “We could not be more thrilled to give Brian the reins and see what he can do with us at Puritan & Company.”

Take a peek through Mercury’s Instagram to get a sense of his skills, then make a reservation at Puritan to try his handiwork for yourself (because once you start scrolling through his feed, you’ll want to try one (all) of his desserts ASAP). Book a table online, or call 617.615.6195.
