Chef Colin Lynch is bringing coastal Italian fare to the South End with the forthcoming Bar Mezzana. The former Barbara Lynch Gruppo executive chef has teamed up with fellow BL Gruppo alumni—wife Heather Kennaway Lynch, previously general manager at Sportello and Jefferson Macklin, previously BL Gruppo president and COO—for the new venture. The restaurant, slated to open in spring of 2016, will take up residence in Sepia, a luxury condominium building in the burgeoning Ink Block neighborhood. Bar Mezzana will boast a 105-seat dining room with bar area and patio dining, designed by South End resident and architect Aaron Weinert of Studio DRAW. The space will stay true to the area’s industrial roots (Ink Block was the Boston Herald headquarters in a past life) with modern design leanings to showcase Lynch’s simple, delicious Italian dishes.
