Juneteenth Sips

Make a plan to raise a glass to commemorate Juneteenth at OAK Long Bar + Kitchen with a proper pour of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. Just head to the swanky restaurant and bar inside the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel on Monday, June 19th between 4:00 and 6:00pm for a complimentary tasting of a trio of spirits made by Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee. While you’re tasting your way through 1884 Small Batch, 1856 Premium Whiskey and Straight Rye you can learn more about the company and its founder, Nearest Green, the first known African-American master distiller (or maybe read up a little online here – it’s an amazing story).

If you’re not around on the 19th, you can still sip for social justice all month by ordering an Uncle’s Old Fashioned, featuring Uncle Nearest whiskey, caramelized fig and angostura bitters. For every cocktail sold, $1 will be donated to Origination Cultural Arts Center, a nonprofit performing arts organization focused on serving African American and Latino youth in Boston’s underserved communities of Roxbury, Dorchester & Mattapan.
