Yo, ho ho, rum lovers: it’s all happening in The Hub when Rum Week returns Sunday, September 13th through Sunday, September 20th. Get ready for a full week of tastings, cocktail competitions, dinners and expert-led events celebrating everything from Caribbean agricoles and Jamaican funk to craft New England distillers and legendary rum brands.
Take a peek at the packed lineup on the official website. The week kicks off at Wusong Tiki Bar in Harvard Square with amateur and professional Mai Tai competitions, followed by bar takeovers featuring Diplomático and Barbancourt, plus a Mount Gay night at Gustazo. Wusong will also debut its own Planteray single cask pick, while Bully Boy Distillery in the South End hosts a Friday night party with tastings, cocktails, games, food, music and a limited-edition Boston Rum Week bottle.
The main event, however, goes down on Saturday, September 19th at the Grand Tasting, hosted by the South Boston Lithuanian Club. This is your chance to taste more than 200 rums from 50-plus brands and pop into some expert-led seminars and live presentations from 12:00 to 4:30pm. Then there’s one last round on Sunday the 20th at Shore Leave, where Boston’s best bartenders battle it out in a Daiquiri Contest.
Tickets and times for events are all available online, as well as answers to most common Qs. Follow along on Instagram or Facebook all week, too, to keep up with the fun, and as always be sure to bring proper ID before you head out!
