Harvard Square’s Oktoberfest

Get ready to have one heck of a gut time at the Harvard Square annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 10th. This year’s event, which runs from 12:00 to 6:00pm, will feature more than 200 artists and vendors selling their wares, six stages of live entertainment, kid friendly activities, hot air balloon rides, and of course some of the best wurst you can find – Raymond Ost of Sandrine’s will be cooking up some authentic Alsatian choucroute. There’ll also be a veritable smorgasbord of other food vendors – keep an eye out for Paul O’Connell who’ll be serving up Chez Henri‘s famous Cuban sandwich. If you’re feeling like going the stein-way, check out the ceremonial keg tapping and Bavarian feast at Grendel’s Den, or grab a tasty bier at the Grafton Street/Sam Adams Beer Garden. Also, returning this year will be the Honk! Festival Parade. Beginning in Davis Square at noon, the parade will feature 30 marching bands and a bevy of cyclists, walkers and other environmentally-friendly folks who will make their way to Harvard Square by 1:00pm. Entrance into this afternoon of Germanic food and fun is free so make sure you drop by at some point – for more information check out the Harvard Square website.
