Cake Class at Grill 23

C.McIntosh for BostonChefs

Grill 23 & Bar is one of Boston’s best steakhouses but if you’ve been to the Back Bay spot and had dessert, then you know their confectionery creations are just as top-notch as their 100 Day Aged Prime Ribeye. On Saturday, August 10th, the visionary behind the sugary stand-outs, Executive Pastry Chef Valerie Nin, will show you how she does what she does at a two hour class that’s all about cakes.

From 11:00am to 1:00pm, you can whip out your whisk and try your hand at making both a sweet & savory treat: vanilla buttercake and cornbread. Top your handiwork with fruit, jalapeños and cheese to give it that extra something, plus learn to craft two types of glazes (lemon royal and chocolate). The workshop wraps up with a cuppa tea or coffee for your sipping pleasure that you can pair with your final product. Tickets are $75 apiece with a small processing fee — get yours here, then grab your apron.
