MIDA in East Boston brings all the charm and sophistication of James Beard-nominated chef Douglass Williams’ flagship South End eatery to the Eastie waterfront. The newest member of the MIDA family (in addition to the second location in Newton) is surrounded on three sides by the water and features an opulent dining room with vaulted ceilings and sprawling windows, plus a huge patio to take in all the panoramic views of downtown.

The new menu features some familiar flavors as MIDA’s other locales, including pizzas with just the right balance of char and chew, Italian-inspired appetizers, pastas, and entrees. Chef Williams also designed some seafood-centric, Eastie-only bites to tempt you across the water. The wine and beer list is thoughtfully curated with an eye for small producers and emerging regions, and if you’re craving some spirits you can order up a classic concoction or try something from the imaginative list of craft cocktails.

The space was designed by Stephen Sousa and his team at Sousa Design Architects, who worked with Williams to create a truly unique waterfront space that takes full advantage of the harbor views from every seat. The room is bathed in gorgeous lighting and filled with reclaimed chestnut wood, beautiful clean lines, and a handwoven canopy overhead. There’s plenty of seating throughout the dining room at traditional table seating, plus there’s an inviting 25-seat bar, and lots of extra seating on the patio in warmer months.
