There’s a new steakhouse hiding in Downtown Crossing and it’s well worth seeking out. The Zebra Room, the latest concept from COJE Management Group (the folks behind Ruka, Mariel, Coquette, Mr. H and more), has opened beneath the Library at Yvonne’s, bringing an intimate, modern take on the classic American steakhouse to Winter Place.
At its core, the menu leans into steakhouse tradition with a few elevated twists. Chief Culinary Officer Tom Berry anchors the lineup with a signature roast prime rib, alongside a selection of globally sourced cuts like wagyu ribeye cap and olive snow wagyu New York strip. From there, the menu branches out with indulgent touches (think: onion beignets topped with caviar, a richly layered baked potato flattie with Comté and Boursin, and a 1875 Salad that nods to Boston dining history with endive, blue cheese, dates and warm bacon).
Seafood and raw bar offerings round things out, making it easy to build a meal that feels both classic and a little more expansive than the standard steakhouse playbook. Behind the bar, that same approach carries through with reworked classics like a Zebra Negroni with strawberry and rhubarb or a Fat Cap Manhattan layered with savory depth, plus tableside martini service for a bit of old-school flair.
The space itself is compact (just ten tables!) designed for a more intimate, dinner-party feel, with dinner reservations available Tuesday through Saturday by request through the restaurant’s website or via email, and a limited number of tables released on Dorsia. Whether you’re in it for the steaks, the sides or the full experience, it’s a new downtown spot that rewards a little extra effort to find. Take a peek at the debut menu below and keep an eye on their IG for updates and additional info.
