Publico Street Bistro is an upscale-casual neighborhood restaurant in South Boston, known for its energetic atmosphere, approachable menu, and distinctive garden-inspired space. We believe great hospitality goes beyond serving good food — it’s about creating memorable experiences that bring guests back.

We’re looking for a hands-on Floor Manager/Service Manager to lead our front-of-house team during evening service, deliver exceptional hospitality, and ensure every guest experience reflects the standards and personality of Publico.

The Role
The Floor Manager is responsible for overseeing nightly service, supporting and directing the front-of-house team, and creating a welcoming, seamless experience for every guest. This is a floor-focused leadership position for someone who leads by example, takes pride in hospitality, and knows how to balance team management with genuine guest interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Exceptional Hospitality: Actively engage with guests, anticipate their needs, resolve concerns, and create memorable experiences that encourage repeat visits.
  • Maintain Publico Standards: Ensure consistent service, professionalism, cleanliness, presentation, and attention to detail throughout every shift.
  • Support and Develop the Team: Coach, motivate, and hold servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff accountable to service expectations.
  • Manage Service Flow: Monitor reservations, table pacing, guest wait times, and communication between the front and back of house to maintain a smooth service.
  • Lead by Example: Remain visible and hands-on throughout service, stepping in wherever needed to support the team and the guest experience.
  • Resolve Guest Concerns: Address issues professionally and promptly, using sound judgment to turn challenges into positive guest experiences.
  • Drive Performance: Help build a positive team culture focused on hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Support Daily Operations: Assist with opening and closing procedures, side work, staff communication, and other operational responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant management, floor management, or senior serving experience in a full-service restaurant.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
  • A hands-on leadership style with a strong attention to detail and high service standards.
  • Availability to work evening shifts, including weekends.

Schedule

  • Evening shifts only.
  • Weekend availability required.
  • Consistent presence on the floor during dinner service.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $65,000 – $75,000 per year based on experience.
  • Health insurance benefits.
  • Quarterly performance-based bonus opportunity.
  • Opportunity to grow with an established South Boston restaurant.

What Success Looks Like

They take ownership of the floor, earn the respect of the team, build relationships with guests, and ensure that every shift runs smoothly. Most importantly, they help make Publico the kind of neighborhood restaurant guests are excited to return to.

If you take pride in leading a team, delivering genuine hospitality, and creating an exceptional dining experience, we’d love to meet you.
