Calling all pastry buffs, baking enthusiasts, and sweet-teeth to Bar Boulud for a month-long pop-up and one-off pastry class with pastry chef Robert Differ. From December 4th through 25th, Differ will be featuring the classic French Christmas dessert, Bûche de Noël, on the menu and packaged for pick-up. You can place your order online with 48 hours notice if you want to take a whole one home or just pop in to Bar Boulud during lunch or dinner service if you think a slice will tide you over (flavors and price info available below).
On Saturday, December 9th, Differ will be welcoming aspiring pastry chefs for a Bûche de Noël tutorial. Sign on for the morning session (10:00am-12:00pm) and you’ll get to choose between White Chocolate Eggnog or Dark Chocolate Peppermint versions to serve as your canvas. Differ will then guide you through the finer points of confectionery construction, leaving you with a recipe so you can try it at home as well as a freshly baked dessert to take with you if things don’t go so well in your kitchen.
