Santa Down the Charles Event

It may seem a bit cold to be out on the water but let the holiday spirit warm you up on Saturday, December 6th at the Santa Down the Charles event. Join chef Raymond Ost at Sandrine’s for lunch then climb aboard The Charles Riverboat with Santa & Co. for a winter cruise from the Cambridgeside Galleria to the docks at Harvard’s Weld Boathouse. From there, Santa and guests will hop on a bright red double-decker bus, decorated in holiday splendor, go for a cruise around the square to rally a parade of costumed characters who will then meet in Winthrop Park at 4:00 pm for holiday lighting, music and readings. Festivities get underway at noon at Sandrine’s where the children’s menu of chicken fingers and pommes frites and mini crème brulee costs $15. Adults get farm raised garlic roasted half chicken served with crispy pommes frites and an adult-sized crème brulee for $20 (inclusive of tax and gratuity). For reservations at the restaurant call 617.497.5300. For tickets for the Santa Down the Charles Boatride, contact the Harvard Square Business Association at 617.491.3434. Don’t forget: While you’re at Sandrine’s pick up some of pastry chef Lee Napoli‘s homemade chocolates to put in your shoes for Saint Nick’s Day or to use as stocking stuffers. They’re available through December for $10 per bag. Just call ahead to arrange for pickup at 617.497.5300.
