Banned in Boston is Back

On Friday, April 2nd, Boston’s biggest names in politics, business, media and the arts take the stage at the Avalon Ballroom for Boston’s funniest fundraiser, Banned in Boston. Chefs from restaurants like blu, Blue Ginger, East Coast Grill, Hamersely’s, Kingfish Hall, Locke-Ober, Mantra, Sonsie, Olives, Summer Shack and UpStairs on the Square kick off the reception at 6:00pm with cocktails and provisions. Then, at 7:15pm, stars Mayor Menino, Click ‘n Clack of Car Talk, local TV personalities and some of Boston’s biggest luminaries take the stage to sing, dance, emote, and generally make utter fools of themselves. Ticket prices start at $150 per person with a special half-price “Junior Citizens Discount” for those under 40. Proceeds from the irreverent satirical revue benefit Urban Improv, a collaborative effort between the Reggie Lewis Center and the Boston Public Schools that offers students ages 10-19 an opportunity to deal creatively via music- and drama-based workshops with some of the major issue in their lives.
