The Smoke Shop in Harvard Square is the place to be for all things barbecue and whiskey. Chef and cookbook author Andy Husbands puts his early years as a pitmaster and his experience on the competitive barbecue circuit to good use at his latest location of his popular BBQ concept on Holyoke Street.
Using his carefully-honed set of skills – from his days working alongside Chris Schlesinger at the gone-but-not-forgotten East Coast Grill and his time touring the country as part of the IQUE barbecue team, which he founded with Chris Hart – Husbands has created a wide ranging menu of what he calls City Q. The offerings pull from the barbecue traditions of Memphis, Kansas City, and Texas with a few Asian influences and, of course, New England seasonality.
Open for lunch and dinner daily to dine in or take out, including quick lunch and dinner options like their signature Texas-Style Brisket and award-winning wings, The Smoke Shop also boasts a 250+ American Whiskey selection available straight up or incorporated into elevated takes on Southern cocktails, as well as a variety of regional craft beers.
The dining room features the comfortable, fast-casual vibe with cozy booths and traditional table seating, plus a long back-lit bar with high top tables — perfect for watching all the whiskey drinks come to life.
