If you’ve ever wished you could cook like Ana Sortun – the James Beard Award-winning chef and co-owner of Oleana, Sarma and Sofra Bakery and Café, you’re definitely going to want to get in on the Boston rollout of ipsa, a new gourmet frozen food delivery service that’s already a hit in NYC. Helmed by Joshua Brau, a former brand director at Blue Apron and corporate manager at Chipotle, and Micah Fredman who served stints in the kitchens of Gramercy Tavern and Eleven Madison Park, ipsa promises to elevate the frozen meal experience with high-end ingredients that’ll leave tired, old Lean Cuisines in the dust.
Get in on the first week of deliveries in the Hub (and the special collaboration with Sortun) by putting an order in for some of her Mediterranean eats like Sofra’s signature Lamb and Eggplant Moussaka made with organic eggplant, pasture-raised lamb, and spices from Burlap & Barrel (check out the options below). Meals are around $20 to $25 for portions that serve two to three people, and they’ll be delivering to Boston once a week on Thursdays, no subscription required. SPANAKOPITA ($25 – Serves 2-3, vegetarian)
This spanakopita (spinach pie) is made with fresh, organic spinach from Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative, chopped onion and fennel. For authentic Greek flavors, we add creamy sheep’s milk feta cheese and Greek yogurt. The spice blend comes from the amazing sourcers at La Boite and includes Greek oregano, mastic, mint, and more.
LAMB + EGGPLANT MOUSSAKA ($27 – Serves 2-3)
A signature dish at Sofra, this Moussaka is a lighter take on the ones served throughout her travels in Greece and Turkey. Rich in flavor, this beautiful main dish features roasted organic eggplant, pasture-raised lamb, and warm, sweet spices like dried mint and cinnamon (both from the spice-virtuosos at Burlap & Barrel).
