Chef Todd Winer takes Sunday Suppers at the Metropolitan Club to Puerto Rico in the new year. During the month of January, get the family together around the table over apps like beach style plantain and shrimp croquettes with island mayo or queso blanco “fried cheese” with green leaf lettuce, guava vinaigrette and avocado salad. Entrees on the evening’s three-course family-style menu include a marinated half chicken with twice cooked cassava, salsa roja or whole fried fish with black beans and rice, and Creole sauce. For dessert, pastry chef Michelle Pattison gives the classic brownie sundae her own special twist. Sunday Suppers, which change on a monthly basis, cost $30 per adult and $20 for children and can be paired with select wines from their extensive list available for a mere $5 per glass. Call the Metropolitan Club at 617.731.0600 to make reservations or to get more information.
