’Tis the season – oyster season, that is, and you can spend Saturday, October 14th and Sunday, October 15th showing your appreciation for the beloved bivalve at the sixth annual Wellfleet Oysterfest. Sponsored by SPAT (Shellfish Promotion and Tasting), the weekend long event features educational seminars, cooking demos, live music and plenty of freshly shucked oysters and clams from local shellfishermen. Be sure to check out the highlight of the festival, the Oyster Shuck-Off, where chef Joshua Hollinger of the Coach House at the Harbor View Hotel on Martha’s Vineyard will judge shuckers on speed and aesthetic presentation.
