Avila, the modern Mediterranean outpost from restaurateur Steve DiFillippo of Davio’s fame, offers a new lunch option for Theater District diners with a three-course Chef’s Executive Lunch. Executive chefs Rodney Murillo and Paul King have put together a menu that starts out with salt cod fritters with tomato concassé and garlic mayonnaise; and rocket greens with red endive and cepa vieja vinaigrette. Entrée options include za’atar spiced black pearl salmon with guanciale and fresh pea risotto; and braised beef short ribs with Madeira, fava beans and corn colada. Pastry chef Tom Ponticelli weighs in with warm chocolate soufflé and vanilla bean gelato.
