Sun WineFest 2006

What better way to wile a winter weekend than at Sun WineFest, one of New England’s most spectacular wine and food events? Scheduled for Saturday, January 21st and Sunday, January 22nd at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, the weekend features more than 1,000 fine wines, gourmet food tastings and whole slew of exhibitors. Guests can sip their way through the Grand Tasting in the Uncas Ballroom, where they’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, hear commentary from the winemakers and experts, and enjoy delicacies from some of the region’s finest restaurants. Keep an eye out for Boston-area chefs Todd English of Olives and Bonfire and Ken Oringer of Clio and Toro, who’ll be taking the Main Stage for cooking demos. Attendees can add to their experience by attending any number of interesting and educational seminars on just about any aspect of wine, food and the pairing of the two. Seminars cost extra, but admission to the Grand Tasting is $55 per person for a one-day pass or $85 for a weekend pass, with proceeds benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Call 860.886.0070 to purchase tickets or take a gander at the Sun WineFest website for a complete rundown of the whole weekend.
